Turning mattresses ''helps increase lifespan''
05/10/2010
Turning a mattress on a regular basis will help extend its life, an article has revealed.
Generally, a mattress should last up to ten years, but replacing it every five to seven years will help ensure that it stays fresher for longer, Wonder Woman said.
The website emphasised that turning a mattress makes sure that certain areas do not become more worn than others, thus reducing the likelihood of medical problems.
"Change the side and direction of the mattress every three months clockwise or anti-clockwise so that it doesn't form a depression and give you a backache," explained Swati Sharma, ex-housekeeping expert with a leading hotel in Delhi.
People also need to be aware of any guarantee offered by the manufacturer of their mattress, which gives an indication of how long it will be in top condition for, the piece added.
Lon's Article Directory recently said that memory foam mattresses have offered relief to many back pain sufferers as they help ease aches.
