Consider coil count when buying a mattress

02/09/2010

Consider coil count when buying a mattress Buying a new mattress can often be daunting, not least because there are so many to choose from, it has been said.

Sleep shop owner Wayne Warmington told patriotledger.com that for those buying a coiled mattress, the higher the coil count, the better.

It is important to take into account the desired firmness of the mattress as well as the weight of the person using it, he explained.

Mr Warmington continued: "Coil gauge, or how thick the coil wire is, ranges from 12.75 to 15 inches.

"Usually, the higher the gauge the better, depending on firmness and the type of metal used."

People must ensure they take time when choosing a mattress, as many stores will not accept returns, the expert added.

Andrea Davenport from Heynssens & Selin's recently suggested that choosing the right mattress is essential as selecting the wrong one can have health implications.
