Finish meal ''3 hours before bed'' to avoid acid reflux

People should finish their evening meal at least two to three hours before climbing between their bed sheets to avoid acid reflux, it has been claimed.
Anyone who suffers from the condition should also steer clear of alcohol or coffee before dropping off on their memory foam mattress, as these stimulate acid production, according Dr Martin Scurr.
Writing in the Daily Mail, he said that acid reflux - where stomach acid travels in the wrong direction and back into the oesophagus - is a common condition, occurring in around 30 per cent of adults.
Among several measures that he advises to stop the problem, he suggests raising the head of the bed or sleeping with a few extra pillows.
He also points out that there are a number of drugs and medicines available which can help alleviate the problem.
If left unchecked, acid reflux can wear out the protective inner lining of the oesophagus, a condition known as erosive oesophagitis.
