Could we be sleeping in beds in greener homes?

Could we be sleeping in beds in greener homes? People in the UK could be sleeping in beds in greener homes, after it was claimed that homebuilders are "leading the way" in sourcing environmentally friendly materials.

This is the view of newhomesforsale.co.uk founder Vernon Pethard, who reckons builders are coming up with ever-more innovative ways to find materials to make a home more green.

He said that builders are constantly researching environmentally friendly ways of construction, meaning that more people might be sleeping on a sofa bed or mattress in a more energy efficient home.

"Everyone is becoming more conscious of environmental issues and house builders have been working harder than ever to create energy efficient homes and more sustainable construction," Mr Pethard explained.

His comments come after the Green Investment Bank Commission reported that one of the key ways to reduce emissions is to improve the energy efficiency of the UK''s housing stock.

Homeowners should be encouraged to make their homes more energy efficient by subsiding schemes and offering low-interest loans, the report suggested.
