MPs ''bedding down in House of Commons''

MPs ''bedding down in House of Commons'' Some MPs are being forced to sleep in the House of Commons followed by the removal of their second home allowances.

This is according to Mark Field, Conservative MP for the cities of London and Westminster, who said they were paying for the mistakes of past generations.

He commented: "With these new rules quite a number of MPs have taken to sleeping on the floor in their office.

"We have gone from a very lax system to a highly bureaucratic and strict regime."

Mr Field highlighted that many of these MPs are cautious about revealing their identities as they are warned by Commons authorities not to sleep there overnight.

One Tory MP said he was "just getting on with it" and decided to sleep on the floor in order to be close to his constituents.

A recent Travelodge survey found that 75 per cent of workers in the UK struggle to sleep at night due to job-related worries.
