Selecting the best mattress is quite literally the foundation to ensuring a brilliant night''s sleep, Consumer Reports has suggested.
It is crucial for people to test mattresses out before making a purchase, simply because it is such an important purchase, the site claimed.
Personal preference is all that matters when selecting a brand new mattress, it continued, as people will have different requirements when they go to bed.
"You''ll hear about fancy fabrics. You''ll hear about coil count and the number of springs and you''ll hear about thick luxurious padding. But it really doesn''t matter," said Tom Marks from Consumer Reports.
He revealed that tests undertaken by the team at Consumer Reports found that every mattress, regardless of its price, had "supporters and detractors".
It was recently revealed that the Sublime mattress from ES Kluft had sold in the US for $44,000 (£30,000).
