Bedtime rituals help improve sleep
25/06/2010
Individuals who find it difficult to sleep need to establish a bedtime ritual in order to help them doze off, it has been revealed.
There are many reasons why people might be waking up at all hours, the You Doctors said in an article for the Idaho Statesman.
For example, too much caffeine may be consumed late in the day, as it can stay in the system for five hours or more, therefore keeping a person alert.
As a result, the experts advised not to have any caffeine after lunch and to indulge in a relaxing bath or meditation before getting into bed.
Making the bedroom calm is also important, they said, which involves removing equipment such as TVs, mobile phones and computers from easy reach.
Advice was recently issued by helium.com on how to sleep during warm summer nights, which included chilling bed linen before getting under the duvet cover.
