Tea helps new mums get a great night''s sleep Tea is much more effective at helping new mums get off to sleep than a glass of wine, new research shows.

A study from Nelsons Teetha shows chamomile tea has relaxing qualities that help mums de-stress and prepare themselves for the day ahead.

Reaching for the bottle is not likely to prove beneficial in the long run, the company suggested, as chamomile tea is much better for a person''s general health.

Mums may also find their children are better at getting to sleep if they use a small amount of chamomile when the baby is teething.

"Babies who are teething can experience sore and swollen gums, flushed cheeks, disrupted sleep patterns and a slightly elevated temperature, causing them a great deal of discomfort," the firm explained.

Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock recently told Now that she rarely gets more than three hours sleep since adopting her son Louis Bardot.
