Divan beds ''making a comeback''
21/06/2010
Beds are gradually being transformed from traditional styles into more functional objects, it has been revealed.
In an article for the Guardian, Paula Cocozza highlighted that divan beds are back in vogue as people go in search of more than just a place to sit.
Beds are turning into sofas, as was seen at the Milan furniture fair earlier this year, the writer revealed.
Speaking to the paper, editor at Elle Decoration Sarah Slade suggested that the line between living and sleeping spaces is gradually becoming more blurred.
"We''re spending a lot more time at home these days. It''s all about cocooning," Ms Slade commented.
People are looking for a place to kick back and relax while getting away from the stresses and strains of everyday life, she added.
Anyone purchasing a new bed was recently advised by the Calgary Herald to opt for neutral bed linen as it tends to stand the test of time better than brightly-coloured items.
