Transform the bedroom into a cool retreat
17/06/2010
A cool-coloured bedroom can be the perfect place to retreat to during the summer months, it has been claimed.
Joe Boehm, senior interior designer at Better Homes & Gardens magazine, said making some minor changes can really improve the feel of the room.
One of the suggestions made to Ocala.com is to use cotton bed sheets, which are particularly luxurious if they have a thread count for more than 400.
Another great way of cooling down the bedroom is to change the wall colour, which Mr Boehm said is the least expensive means of changing the mood of a room.
Ocala interior designer Michael Koontz commented: "Treat your bedroom to a crisp white scheme. Nothing is cooler in summer than a white bedroom with white trim."
Decorator Elaine Carnegie recently told the Calgary Herald that neutral bed linen is much more preferable to heavily-coloured items, mainly because it stands the test of time better.
