Sleep ''the ultimate recharge for body and mind'' A great night''s sleep is the only way to fully recharge the body and mind, it has been revealed.

In a blog for the Huffington Post, sleep doctor Michael Breaus highlighted that deep sleep is the "most physically restorative" of all types of rest.

"We know that growth hormone is emitted during deep sleep, and that this is the hormone that, among other things, tells tissue to repair itself after a long day of possible damage," he explained.

Dr Breaus emphasised that the amount of energy a person has in the morning is generally dependent on how much deep sleep a person has had.

Meanwhile, REM sleep is crucial for creativity and enables people to be better organised and more effective at solving problems, he commented.

Researchers from Trent University in Ontario recently found that sleep is essential for those hoping to learn to play the guitar as it helps improve co-ordination.
