Mass pillow fight descends on York
09/06/2010
A number of people have turned up at an historic location to take part in a mass pillow fight.
Around 40 pillow fighters arrived at York''s Museum Gardens for the event, which was advertised with the help of social networking site Facebook.
Thomas Rychlik, a 15-year-old who took part in the pillow fight, told the York Press: It''s a really good way to break down social barriers and engage with people who you wouldn''t normally meet."
The event took place as part of the flash-mobbing craze, which involves large numbers of people turning up at a location to do something obscure before dispersing immediately afterwards.
It lasted around five minutes and was hailed a success after last year''s attempt failed when the police turned up and asked the participants to leave.
They had feared disorder among the pillow fighters, but the 2010 event was allowed to take place without incident.
