Bed linen ''helps woman eradicate her allergies''
09/06/2010
Buying new bed linen could be just the way to reduce the symptoms of hay fever, as one woman has found out.
Gillian Stevens thought she had suffered from the condition since being a teenager, but now at the age of 40, her troubles have finally gone away.
Dust mites rather than pollen were discovered to be the main trigger of her problems, she told the Daily Mail, so efforts were then made to remove them from the home.
"I got a mattress cover for my bed and got rid of a lot of soft furnishings like blankets and just used a duvet, which I washed regularly," she revealed to the paper.
Keeping the house as dust-free as possible for a few weeks soon meant that Ms Stevens was no longer suffering from streaming eyes and nose, so she could enjoy her day-to-day life much more.
This follows claims from the David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre, which suggested that new bedding can also help reduce irritation to asthma sufferers.
