Charity launches pillowcase campaign
04/06/2010
Sewing fanatics have been issued with a challenge to make a pillowcase, which is then to be donated to those who need it most.
American Patchwork & Quilting magazine launched its Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference campaign with the intention of helping a variety of good causes.
Maureen Lasslett, owner of Pieceful Choices quilt shop, has lent her support to the project, pointing out that pillowcases can make a real difference to people''s lives.
Whether it is a cancer sufferer or foster child who receives the gift, Ms Lasslett believes they will feel special. "To each of these people, the gift of a pillowcase means that someone cares about them," she explained.
The aim is for one million pillowcases to be created across the US, with participants encouraged to hold parties to get as many people as possible involved.
This follows news reported in the Windsor Star that students at Riverside high school had been involved in making outfits from bed linen for children in Mozambique.
