Motorist has close encounter with mattress
17/05/2010
A driver has had a lucky escape this weekend after coming across a mattress on the M23, which was dumped there by another motorist.
It was found near junction 9, the Crawley Reporter revealed, with fire crews called to ensure the area was safe enough for other road users.
A spokesperson for the local fire service said: "A very large mattress was dumped onto the motorway by an unidentified vehicle and a car hit it."
They stressed that no-one had been hurt in the collision, but some damage was inflicted on the vehicle.
In recent days, mattress expert from ABC News Joseph Brownstein was on hand to dispel many of the myths associated with sleep.
They said that people need sufficient sleep no matter how old they are and that cheese and other foodstuffs have no significant link to the occurrence of nightmares.
