New mattresses ''help people rest easier''

A good mattress is one of the cornerstones of relieving stress, reducing anxiety and preventing back pain, a study from Oklahoma State University has found.
Researchers discovered that a new mattress can contribute to a good night''s sleep, with people generally resting easier on one that is brand new compared with five years or older.
"A mattress that cradles you with comfort can go a long way to help reduce stress," commented Lissa Coffey, spokesperson and lifestyle expert for the Better Sleep Council (BSC).
"It provides a good night''s rest so that you can perform your best during the day, even in tough times."
The BSC advises people to evaluate their beds for optimum comfort and consider replacing their mattress if it is between five and seven years old.
In February, Ms Coffey recommended that couples who have trouble sleeping in the same bed spend time working on a bedtime schedule that works for both of them.
