Sleeping on a king size mattress stuffed with money may seem like an unattainable dream for many of us, but it was a fact of life for one government employee in India, according to a newspaper.
Vikram Parashuram Jadhav, the executive engineer at India''s Public Works Department, was recently arrested over corruption allegations, the Pune Mirror reports.
Moreover, it seems the official may have used his bed frame to hide some of the cash, as Anti-Corruption Bureau officials apparently found Rs 1.17 crore (£250,000) stuffed into his mattress.
The authority believes Mr Jadhav''s assets could total more than Rs 4 crore (£587,000), while the raid also revealed 13 insurance policies and receipts of deposits with various banks, as well as a number of items of gold and silver jewellery.
But it''s not just Indian officials who sleep on money-stuffed bedsteads - in an interview with New York Magazine, actress Sherie Rene Scott suggested that she may keep her cash under the mattress.
