Boudoirs ''don''t suffer'' from Hugh Hefner-look bed linen
27/04/2010
Those wanting to act out Hugh Hefner-style fantasies in the bedroom will be happy to know that it is seemingly acceptable to do so - that is, of course, if it''s regarding the choice and style of bed linen.
The Times explained that while many people adopt Egyptian cotton or organic offerings in their home, it''s now all about silk - a material often used by the Playboy owner.
Speaking to Caitlin McCann, the buying manager for Selfridges, it was concluded that more and more people are considering silk despite its association with more questionable aspects of relationships because, quite simply, attitudes are changing.
She explained: "It has associations with studs with revolving beds and mirrors on the ceiling, but it doesn''t have to be sleazy. I have silk pillowcases and they''re really lovely."
Those unaware of silk''s production should know that it is created from the cocoons of larvae - most regularly the mulberry silkworm, which is reared in captivity predominantly in China, India and Uzbekistan.
