Helpful Girl Scouts give youngster bedroom of her dreams
26/04/2010
Sometimes, people are unable to get the most out of the world due to a chronic illness or health issue, though one girl has been given some international flavour in her own bedroom by some truly kind Scouts.
Victoria McCandless was left stunned and in tears of joy after she walked into her new Paris-themed bedroom for the first time on Sunday, which was prepared for her as a gift from the Macon Girl Scouts Troop 463 in Georgia.
Inspired by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the girls spent the last five months decorating and painting a room that fits Victoria''s personality and it could not be more fitting - after all, she has wanted to visit France her entire life.
The space around her bed was decorated with pictures and ornaments of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, while Notre Dame cathedral was also incorporated into the overall design.
Victoria suffers from short bowel syndrome, meaning she cannot attend school every day and has to spend most of her time in her room.
For their efforts, the girl scouts received the gold award for their hard work - the highest honour in the organisation.
One of the primary activities of the Girl Scouts in the US is selling cookies door to door - a tradition that usually takes place between January and April across the nation.
