Furniture trends ''changing again'' this spring
16/04/2010
People should consider a new investment in bedroom furniture this spring, as tastes for different woods change and become more pointed towards sustainability, it is believed.
Such is the viewpoint of Aisha Sultan of the St Louis Post-Dispatch, who said that people can always get a great impact from an investment in new chests of drawers, wardrobes and other items using reclaimed wood.
She said: "The ultimate green choice in furniture involves reusing a discarded piece and re-creating its aesthetic and function.
"Distressed wood from old barns can be remade into wood counter tops. Antique wood flooring is highly coveted and old barn beams can be remade into fireplace mantels."
Additionally, the wood can be left unfinished if a rustic look is desired, while it can also be treated to look more polished and attractive.
In a recent piece for the V-Blog, it was said that storage beds, such as divan bed frames, are very popular space savers in the modern bedroom.
