People are ''considering redecoration over moving house''
14/04/2010
Given the last couple of years in the housing market, it may not come as a surprise that people are much less likely to move to a different property.
However, Rob Nathan, group marketing manager at Ideal Home Show''s management team Media 10, said the key trend in decorating is now doing as much with as little as possible - in the bedroom and beyond.
He argued that younger people are not turning to technology either, instead buying high-end bedroom furniture, particularly that of the French style as people see this to have extended value, outlasting other mod cons.
Mr Nathan commented on facilities such as the Ideal Home Show and explained: "People are tending to do more with their homes rather than move, which people can now appreciate with so many television programmes and magazines about doing up your home. The tools are all here to make it happen."
In a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, Location Location Location''s Phil Spencer commented that people do up their homes rather than moving and emphasised the importance of enhancing the house so it is "a place to take pleasure from".
