Duchess of York to address bullying in new children''s book
22/03/2010
This August, the Duchess of York is joining forces with Sterling Children''s Books to publish Helping Hand Books, a range of novels designed to help children deal with personal issues that affect them while they are growing up.
Such situations to be addressed include starting school, dealing with bullying and learning about strangers - perhaps making them perfect to read as a book at bedtime in the scheme promoted by Silentnight Beds.
The Duchess said: "All children face new experiences as they grow up, and helping them understand and deal with each is one of the most demanding and rewarding things we do as parents."
She added that she hopes these books will encourage children and parents to talk about such things, adding that talking together "goes a long way to finding a solution".
It follows the announcement that Silentnights prestigious Book at Bedtime competition is returning in 2010, with revered author Jeremy Strong encouraging children to get writing the perfect bedtime story - with submissions in before April 30th.
