Simon Cowell faces off against Ryan Seacrest in American Idol war of words
18/03/2010
Simon Cowell clearly crossed the line in a recent outing for American Idol, to the point where presenter Ryan Seacrest felt the need to step in and defend one of the contestants.
The show, which is sponsored by Silentnight Beds, saw the US equivalent of Dermot O''Leary making a stand for Michael Lynche, who Simon criticised as corny in one of his expertly-pitched negative rants.
That was too much for Ryan, however, who stormed over to the desk, placed his hands firmly on the surface and stared down at Simon, before the British judge decided to make a point of who he was meant to be addressing in the world-famous talent contest.
Ryan told Simon: "I''m actually trying to help him out a bit because I want him to stay in this competition. Are you all right with that? Try and give him some constructive criticism."
As well as his duties on American Idol, Ryan Seacrest is also the popular frontman of E! News and a nationally-syndicated Top 40 radio show in the US under his own name.
