Success is down to sleep, exam expert says
18/03/2010
A man who scored a 96 per cent in a series of exams in his native India last year has told this year''s candidates about the best way to ensure success: getting plenty of time in bed.
Stressing the need for revision and a good balance of health, DNA India reported that Bharath N Padasale said that while revision is obviously important, sleep puts the mind at ease, especially when balanced with a healthy and regularly-monitored diet.
CR Chandrashekar, a psychiatrist with National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, explained that this approach had unsurprising consequences for the man''s work ethic.
He continued: "Good food and sufficient rest are necessary to keep the mind alert. Drink a lot of water and avoid spicy or oily foods to stay awake and alert while answering questions."
Professor Jim Horne, the director of Loughborough University Sleep Research Centre, recently asserted that anyone that feels sleepy during the day must always get to bed earlier, otherwise they could suffer the unwanted health problems brought about by a lack of rest.
