Egyptian cotton can have its details ''overlooked''
25/02/2010
When looking for the best things to dress a bed with, many people may find themselves confused by popular terminology in the world of bedding, and as such they must be careful when picking their desired weave, it has been asserted.
Desiree Tucker, co-owner of Ungava Duvet Factory Outlets, explained that she has noticed people are spending more time and money looking into the different offerings available for their mattress, with Egyptian cotton being particularly popular.
She explained: "Some 300 counts - in Egyptian cotton which has longer and stronger fibres, for example - are softer, silkier and more durable than 1,000 thread counts of a lower quality fabric."
Some manufacturers double the threads in order to raise the count; Ms Tucker added that while it is not dishonest, it is a detail that is "often overlooked by consumers".
Earlier in the week, Theresa Rose of Helium noted that bedding is probably the most important investment that a university student can make when moving away from home.
