''Bond with youngsters'' through room decorating Getting your son or daughter involved with the decorating of their bedroom is a great way to learn a lot about each other as well as design, according to a new report.

The Gatehouse News Service underlined the importance of making the bed a sanctuary for individuals, meaning that design must match up to the vision and comfort levels of those who relax in it - especially young ones.

Painting is a great skill to have in general, though its importance in the bedroom was emphasised.

The report continued: "It''s the simplest, most cost-effective way to give a room a completely new look and if your teenager learns how to paint well now, he''ll never fear the job later when he has to tackle it in his own home."

It added that if a person is not too confident about their offspring''s painting skills, or their own, they should sign both people up for a class in the basics at a home improvement shop or learning centre to extend the bonding experience.

One space which was recently overhauled was the Big Brother house, which took on a darker and more luxurious feel with its heaven and hell theme for the latest celebrity series.
