Mattress change may ''enhance life'' People who are having difficulty in waking themselves up on a morning may not realise that their mattress could be playing a huge part in their fitness, it has been concluded.

In an article by leading breakfast show GMTV, is was highlighted that a bed''s mattress should be replaced every eight to ten years, depending on quality.

The TV show noted that poor sleep can be linked to all kinds of issues, such as more frequent colds, diabetes and high blood pressure, while insufficient bed rest is also closely linked with obesity.

Jennifer Lopez, for example, emphasises that her ten hours of sleep a night allow her to remain both thin and beautiful, while other celebs and doctors also believe in such sleep "diets".

This month, it was revealed through official statistics from Scotland that there was around £1 million spent on drugs and therapies to improve the quality of sleep of individuals in the country - something which may be dramatically reduced with investments in mattresses and beds.
