A woman who has a number of problems with her breathing when she is in bed each night has claimed that she owes her life to her trusty dog Boris.
Bernadetta Henry, a 67-year-old from Llangollen, Denbighshire, said that her bichon frise pooch, who is six years old, responds to her sleep apnoea, noting that she can stop breathing every night around three times.
As a result, Boris will climb onto the bed and put his paws on her chest in an attempt to wake her up.
Ms Henry said of the condition: "You can wear a mask but I can''t manage it - I can''t breathe with it on.
"One night, when I had had Boris less than 12 months, he woke me up. He had his muzzle right down my throat to make me breathe."
Earlier this month, researchers from Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey discovered that improving sleep apnoea symptoms can lead to a number of benefits, including the improvement of golfing abilities.
