Sleeping without bed linen will ''stain mattress badly'' By Elizabeth Mewes

People wanting to get the most out of their mattress must use a mattress protector, otherwise they could be faced with irreversible stains, according to one lifestyle expert.

Akron Beacon Journal home writer Mary Beth Breckenridge responded to a question put forward by a man whose nephew does not use bed linen and as a result, it has caused the bedding to become dirty.

She recommended that to solve the initial problem, mattress makers generally recommend the use of only mild soap and water and even then, it needs to be applied lightly as dry-cleaning fluids or other cleaning products can damage the materials and void warranties.

Ms Breckenridge asserted that really, prevention is better than the cure, telling the individual that he must encourage the use of a mattress cover of one form or another to prevent damage and sleep in a nicer environment.

Last week, Ms Breckenridge explained that manufacturers are more innovative than ever with their mattresses, noting that many have conducted huge amounts of research into temperature regulation and environmentally-friendly fillings.
