Bed wetting is a major issue for a lot of children as they are growing up, so parents must take a certain number of tips into account when addressing the issue, according to an expert.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Alicia Eaton, a neuro-linguistic programming expert and clinical hypnotist, listed a number of important points relating to the issue.
She said that if a child is over five and bed wetting is still a problem, they should be checked out by a GP, but only to find out if they have some sort of infection, as medication and wetness alarms only have short-term effectiveness.
Ms Eaton advised that parents should not assume there is an underlying emotional problem, as the most common reason for bed wetting is simple habit.
Furthermore, mums and dads need to plan a fast route to the bathroom and ensure it is free from clutter and well lit, as it will make the trip to the toilet much easier from the child''s bed.
KidsHealth recommended that children try not to drink anything after dinner, while remembering to go to the bathroom before hitting the mattress.
