Philips Respironics has released a new continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine to address obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) via bi-level airway pressure technology.
Those suffering from the condition in bed each night look set to benefit from the system, which delivers a gentle flow of pressurised air through a mask and into the user, keeping their airway open and improving quality of rest.
Philips Respironics'' newest Sleep Therapy System offering also provides new-to-market features to optimise the care, comfort and efficacy of therapy in patients.
Donald Spence, the chief executive officer of Philips Home Healthcare Solutions, continued: "In designing the new system, we took a smarter approach to the entire sleep management process and married our clinically-proven technologies together in one rigorously engineered device to better support patient care."
OSA is a common condition that affects more men than women, with about 3.5 per cent of men and 1.5 per cent of women suffering from it in the UK.
