A man who ploughed his car into the side of Tesco over a poorly-delivered bed has admitted he was at fault for his crime.
In May, Robert Caton, a 50-year-old from Andover in Hampshire, decided to remonstrate with managers following a bed delivery which lacked a mattress.
Instead of calling the supermarket chain or organising a meeting with the store''s head honcho, Mr Caton instead climbed into his 1983 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit and careered into the side of the store in his home town, plunging 15ft into the store and taking out two of the cashier desks.
Mr Caton admitted dangerous driving and failure to provide a specimen of breath but denied another charge of causing criminal damage reckless as to whether life was endangered, which was later dropped by the prosecution.
The perpetrator was allegedly drunk while on the phone to Tesco Direct regarding the mattress, before heading to the store for his smashing entrance.
Last month, grandmother Mary Raimo announced that she was to sue Tesco after she was struck on the head by a pineapple as she shopped in the fruit aisle of the leading chain.
