A number of foods have been identified as ones to avoid should a person want to get good quality sleep.
People who want to live a healthy life know they should not skip any meals, though many are quite prepared to skip sleep - an activity which is also needed to lose weight, according to Health News.
However, to get the best quality of rest during the night, people need to fully consider their diet, as many foodstuffs can destroy their sleep.
Too much food is a great way to ruin any chances of a person getting a solid chunk of sleep, with Health News explaining that anything over 500 calories can cause the feeling of being bloated and indigestion problems.
Gas producing foods such as beans, cauliflower and broccoli, while great for nutrition, can also cause trapped wind and interrupt REM during rest.
Finally, alcohol and caffeine are listed as problematic, in part due to their ability to interrupt sleep during the night or wake a person up much earlier than usual, making them more likely to feel groggy in the morning.
According to Ask Dr Sears, foods which are great in bringing about sleep are seafood, meats, rice, seeds and nuts, due to their high levels of amino acids.
