Mattress-carrying cocaine smuggler caught out by police By Matt Gardner

Italian police claimed a huge haul of cocaine after a number of attempts by smugglers were foiled, despite their amazing attempts to get the drug through customs.

One man claimed to be using an inflatable mattress as a means of getting a comfortable night''s sleep, yet he was wearing it for completely different reasons, finding a few pounds of the white powdery drug inside it.

Another instance saw a man claiming to move to Italy to become a priest, though the gentleman was not able to gain salvation from police after several kilos of pure cocaine were discovered on his walk through Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome.

It was not through any simple means, however, with the 33-year-old Mexican man vacuum-packing the drug into super-thin bags before slipping them into long-playing vinyl record cases.

Air mattresses have been in the news again this week, with one man found floating on one on a lake in Pennsylvania before being dragged into a boat and arrested after violating court-decreed conditions after a theft charge.
