Safe sleeping environment for babies is ''paramount''

New parents must ensure their house provides a solid sleeping environment for their young babies, it has been emphasised.
Dr Miriam Stoppard, the Daily Mirror''s well-known advice dispensing machine, highlighted the importance of getting babies into a good sleeping routine, even if the reason for doing it was to make the parent''s sleep improve as well.
She explained that the risk of cot death is dramatically increased by a smoking household, so to make it completely smoke free is a safe bet as otherwise the air, clothing, bed, skin and hair is tainted by the substance.
Using a dummy at bedtime can also ease them to sleep, while a baby''s bedroom should be kept at around 18 degrees Celsius to give them the optimum temperature, with a thermometer coming in very handy in the room.
Sleep Well Baby added to Dr Stoppard''s advice, adding that a baby should always be put down to sleep on their back.
