Sleep tips given to all A healthy living website has offered a variety of tricks and tips on how to get to sleep easily.

Delicious Living magazine noted the tips in light of results from a recent survey by the Centers for Disease Control, which detailed the problems of chronic sleep disorders that affect 70 million Americans, such as sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome.

The magazine first highlighted the importance of getting up at the same time each day, resulting in "sleep hunger" at a similar time each night.

Natural light was stated as a great stimulant for sleep, with darker environments producing a larger amount of melatonin, a natural chemical which makes the body tired.

Food should also be aimed at the sleep cycle, with "plenty of complex carbohydrates" helping the rest cycle.

Delicious Living concluded: "Instead of using your alarm solely to wake up, set it to go off one hour before bedtime, to remind you to settle in and prepare for tomorrow."

The Irish Independent agreed with these sentiments, adding that alcohol should also be cut down on during evenings to avoid fatigue.
