Good night''s sleep ''absolutely vital''
03/09/2008
A member of a British body which aims to raise awareness of the importance of sleep has highlighted the importance of getting a good night''s rest.
The Sleep Council has emphasised that necessary amounts of quality sleep are "absolutely vital" to the well-being and healthy lifestyle of a person, with a lack of it resulting in a weaker attitude to business and pleasure, it added.
Comments from the organisation come soon after a recent report by anti-cramp medicine manufacturers Crampex, which found that a quarter of Britons had taken time off work due to exhaustion.
A further fifth admitted that they got less than five hours sleep in bed a night, with just over a fifth stating that they got the full eight hours.
Jessica Alexander, a spokesperson for the Sleep Council, said: "You have enough energy, you feel less stressed, physically your body is stronger, your appearance is better, and your skin will be better. It''s terribly important to get a good night''s sleep."
