English golfer overcomes sleep to progress

A tired Oliver Wilson admitted to a sleepless night before getting himself into the last qualifying spot at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
The 28-year-old golfer told the Sunday Mail that the lack of rest in bed had proved something to himself - that pressure may be the thing that brings out the much-needed ability in him.
Wilson''s placement has booked him a place in the Ryder Cup squad that will face America this month at the Valhalla Club in Kentucky, after European team captain Nick Faldo picked him alongside eighth and ninth-placed Justin Rose and Soren Hansen.
Speaking to the newspaper, Wilson said: "I knew I had to rest on Friday - but I woke at 2am, did not get back to sleep until 5.30 then had to get up at six! It''s hard to switch off."
Although he was born in Mansfield, Oliver Wilson went to Augusta State University and his home course is Coxmoor Golf Club in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
