A sleep coach based in the north-west has signed a manufacturing deal to make up to 40 sleep-related products to help both athletes and regular consumers, Manchester business website Crain''s has reported.
Nick Littlehales, a specialist in match fitness who helped the England team achieve optimal overnight rest, has decided to go into a private venture with local company Comfy Quilts to create cushions and quilts that use technology developed in the sports industry.
The website added that Littlehales believes the sports world has a "lot to teach business people" about the need and benefits of sleep.
Speaking to Crain''s, Mr Littlehales said: "If you are a professional athlete you need to know how to sleep properly, if you have to perform mentally and physically on the pitch."
Meanwhile, at the upcoming Games, the International Olympic Committee has announced that its president will again sleep in an ordinary room in the Olympic village, identical to that of all other athletes.
