Consumers 'opting for speciality mattresses'

Consumers are increasingly opting for speciality mattresses in a bid to get a good night's sleep, asserts one commentator.
Writing for online resource Pure Embrace, the unnamed writer notes that people are increasingly finding it more difficult to fall asleep and as such are willing to spend more to get a good night's slumber.
"Consumers are beginning to think of beds like other major home investments from cars to computers to home entertainment systems," the author says.
Citing figures from the US's Speciality Sleep Association, the news provider notes that speciality mattresses and beds will make up 40 per cent of the retail industry by 2011, with sleeping aids which include special relief systems for the shoulders, knees and hips being particularly popular.
Meanwhile, Jesse Cannon from the Healthy Back Institute recently claimed that a new mattress could key to getting rid of aches and pains which keep people awake, adding that people should question how supportive their bed is and think about purchasing a new one.
