Children 'should sleep in their own beds'

Many young children join their parents in bed however experts have often criticised the practice, with the American Academy of Paediatrics claiming it can be unsafe for very young babies.
Writing for online parenting resource MomLogic, paediatrician Dr Cara Natterson claims that as children get older the issue centres more on parenting and less on safety, asserting that youngsters should feel safe and comfortable in their own beds.
She suggests parents implement a rule which sees children remaining in their own beds while the sun is down but allows them to join them in bed when the sun comes up.
This, adds the expert, allows the youngsters to get a good quality night's sleep and still indulge in some bonding time with their family.
In related news, an interiors enthusiast recently claimed that children's beds and bedrooms should be decorated in a way which helps prompt sleep and relaxation and makes them attractive to the individual.
Writing for the Deccan Herald, S B S Surendan noted that bedrooms should be free from clutter and distracting electrical equipment.
