Parents ''helping kids to unwind before bedtime''

The majority of parents across the UK are making the time to ensure their children get a good night's sleep by helping them to unwind before bed, it has been revealed.

Research carried out by Feather & Black on favourite family moments throughout the day has revealed 23 per cent of respondents placed reading a bedtime story with their children as their top choice.

In addition, sitting on the sofa and watching a DVD received 30 per cent of the vote, while eating a family meal together picked up 21 per cent.

"It's great to see from the poll results that the bed and bedtime plays an important role in making every day special," commented Adam Black, managing director of Feather & Black.

Last month saw the publication of a study in the Deccan Herald highlighting some top tips on helping toddlers to get to sleep more easily.

It included ensuring bedrooms are a comfortable and relaxing environment, as well as the development of an understanding of a child's body clock to ensure they get rest when they need it.
