What is a Miracoil spring system?

Silentnight's exclusive Miracoil TM technology is made from one continuous length of wire, wound into hundreds of springs that distribute your weight evenly; much more effectively than a standard mattress spring system.  It is totally unique in its design, offering comfort and support for all shapes and sizes.

Miracoil TM mattresses offer head to toe spring alignment which minimises partner disturbance because weight is transferred up and down, rather than across the mattress preventing roll-together and relieves the pressure on the most painful parts of your body, like your lower back and shoulders and the edge to edge springs ensure you are supported across the whole area of the mattress and don't roll off.

The benefits of Miracoil TM

  • Zoned support for perfect spinal alignment
  • Pressure relief for a perfect night's sleep
  • More sleep space
  • Less partner disturbance

What is a Mirapocket® spring system?

Each mattress with Mirapocket® technology contains individual small springs, which are housed in their own separate fabric pockets. Each spring helps to spread your weight evenly across the bed providing the perfect, firm support and comfort that's second to none.

The benefits of Mirapocket®

  • Pocket springs for luxurious comfort
  • Individual responsive springs to provide zoned support
  • Edge to edge springs for maximum sleep space
  • Silentnight Ecofibres TM scientifically proven to keep you cooler
  • Allergy UK approved Purotex probiotics keep the mattress naturally hygienic and dust-mite free

What is zoned support?

Did you know that the pressure put on your spine during the day means you're up to 2cm shorter when you go to bed at night? It is important that our spines are not under any stress when we sleep in order to recover effectively. Nearly 50% of our weight is in our hip zone when we lie flat, so it's this area that needs more support, and areas like our shoulders that need more cushioning. By choosing zoned support created through our Miracoil® and Mirapocket® spring system technology, your spine is allowed to align correctly and reduces pressures that lead to aches and pains.

How can I stop pins and needles in my lower body?

Tossing and turning, aches and pains, waking up with parts of your body numb?

These are all signs that pressure points are causing restless sleep. It's important you are comfortable while you sleep but because your body is not uniform, certain areas like the shoulders and hips will experience pressure while you sleep. Our unique Miracoil® and Mirapocket® spring systems are designed to spread body weight evenly, so there are no uncomfortable pressure hotspots and you get an undisturbed night's sleep.

What is memory foam?

Our responsive body moulding memory foam spreads your weight to offer the ultimate support and pressure relief.

Memory foam is affected by room temperature, so you might find the memory mattress cold and hard when you first go to bed. As it reacts to body heat, it moulds to your shape, which can make it difficult for you to move or get out of bed.

What is latex?

Our exclusive Innergetic® Latex contains thousands of tiny bubbles creating a unique elasticity that adds a natural bounce to the mattress and instant pressure relief for your joints.  It enables you to move freely for healthy sleep. Unlike memory foam it doesn't need body heat to be activated. It is also naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for allergy sufferers.

What is Geltex?

The Geltex comfort layer is an innovative combination of an extremely elastic gel and air-permeable foam offering a unique combination of unparalleled breathability to prevent the body from overheating, perfect pressure relief preventing pressure points from building and optimal body support providing perfect spinal alignment and support throughout the night.

What are Eco fibres?

Our range of smart fibres such as EcoComfort (TM) allow the mattress to breathe, leaving your body at a comfortable temperature all year round as overheating in bed can prevent you from having a great night's sleep.

Our innovative EcoMemory® fibre is made using luxurious microfibres with a special elastomeric binder, that means it moulds to your body just like memory foam but the EcoMemory® fibres allow the mattress to breathe without any loss of movement or uncomfortable heat build-up.

  • Safe, odourless fibres do not emit any volatile organic compounds.
  • Contains no nasty chemicals or treatments.
  • Hypoallergenic and dust-mite resistant.
  • Planet friendly - produced from 50% recycled plastic bottles and can be recycled again

What is Purotex?

To enjoy deep sleep, our body temperature needs to fall during the night. The heat generated from being too hot in bed generates moisture creating an environment in which dust-mites thrive.

Purotex probiotics is approved by Allergy UK and is added to the yarns of fabric which is then woven or knitted to make the comfy quilted top layer of many Silentnight mattresses. To ensure our mattresses remain hygienically clean.

Each yarn of fabric has tiny microcapsules on it and every time you use the mattress the capsules burst absorbing moisture on the mattress, preventing harmful bacteria and mould developing and therefore eliminating dust-mites.

What is a platform or solid top divan base?

Solid top divan bases have a solid, non-sprung top panel and are ideal in offering exceptional comfort but a firmer feel.

What is a sprung divan base?

The luxurious sprung divan base works together with your mattress for a softer feel allowing the mattress to adapt to the body's contours. The sprung edge base is also longer lasting prolonging the life of your bed.  It offers a more luxurious feel.

What storage options are available?

Just like everybody is different, every bedroom is different too and we all have different needs for storage in them. Choose from a range of space-saving storage options that keep your room tidy and accessible, including innovative 2-drawer and 4-drawer designs.

What is an Ottoman bed?

The Ottoman base opens at the foot of the base providing the ultimate storage solution helping you maximise your bedroom space.

What are conti drawers?

Conti drawers are half the size of the drawers you would usually find in the base. The reason for this is so you can have a bedside table and still access your drawers at each side of the bed.

How do I find the perfect bed for me?

Use our easy guide Bed Selector to take you through some simple steps to find the perfect bed for you.  As you spend a third of your life in bed it is also worth taking the time to visit one of our stockists to try before you buy

Can I purchase a new mattress to use on an existing base?

As long as your base is in good condition then it should be suitable for use with a new Silentnight mattress. However, we do recommend that if you are replacing your mattress because of its age then you should also consider replacing the base at the same time.  Your base may not look worn but it will have had just the same amount of use.  Using a mattress on an old or unsuitable base for which it was not designed may invalidate the guarantee.

How should I care for my new bed?

In order to ensure that you receive the very best support, comfort and life from your new Silentnight bed, it is essential that you follow the care instructions as provided with the product.

How often do I turn my mattress?

Unless you have purchased a 'No Turn' mattress we recommend that during the first six months of use, your mattress should be turned every two weeks and then monthly thereafter. You should alternate between turning the mattress over and rotating it from top-to-tail to ensure even settlement. If you mattress has handles, use these to position it on the divan base. Do not allow the mattress to bang or fall against the side of the divan, as this may damage the spring system. Some assistance may be required.

Although our 'No Turn' mattresses will never need to be turned over, we recommend that you rotate the mattress from top-to-tail regularly, following the instructions above, so that the mattress wears evenly.

How do I clean my mattress and or base?

No mattress is completely colourfast. We, therefore, recommend that you use a mattress cover, which will protect it from coming into contact with body moisture or other liquids.  Do not use detergents or chemical cleaners on your mattress as this is likely to damage the fabric and stitching.

Micro Suede

A fabulously sensual fabric, micro suede is soft and durable, making it an extremely popular choice.  The fabric is water repellent and dirt resistant.  However, should you need to remove any heavier stains, please use a neutral detergent, taking care not to over rub.  Rinse with clean, lukewarm water.

Woven Fabrics

Our luxurious woven fabrics have a soft, rich texture.  These fabrics should be specialist cleaned only.

How long are the beds guaranteed?

See full terms and conditions.

Are the beds flammability tested?

UK law requires manufacturers to ensure that foam used in their products undergoes a fire-retardant treatment in order to comply with life-saving safety regulations.

The Silentnight Group introduced our own in-house testing laboratory back in 1980 and to this day, to the best of our knowledge, we remain the only UK Bed Manufacturer to operate our own facilities.

Our laboratory carries out detailed tests across all of our products to ensure our customers purchase products which are not only of outstanding quality and great value, but are totally safe in their homes.
