Your Questions

08 February 2010 by Hayley

I have purchased a Miracoil 3 Latex Dream mattress (double) from a merchant on eBay and I am expecting it in the next two days. My interest in this mattress was it's comfort (we tried it out in a shop) and the fact it is one of your 'hypoallergenic' beds, as I suffer from both eczema and asthma and have a strong allergy to dust mites. As latex is a naturally hypoallergenic substance, I understand this will assist in keeping down levels of dust mites.

1) I would like to know if we should also purchase an enclosed anti-allergy mattress protector from Puraspace, who are approved by Allergy UK (http://www.puraspace.com/Products/PuraSleep/PID-MPPVFE.aspx). I did look at Silentnight's own anti-allergy mattress protector, but I could not find one that fully encloses the mattress. After emailing them, they told me it was 30cm in depth and the Latex Dream is 24cm, would this cause any problems?

2) Would standard fitted sheets fit over both this protector and the mattress, or would I need extra depth sheets?

Reply from our Silentnight Expert:

You should always use a mattress protector on your bed.  As the mattress protector has an elasticated skirt all the way round then it should still fit the Latex Dream.

At 24cm the Latex Dream is not one of our deepest mattresses so standard sheets should still fit.

We would suggest that you try the Miracoil 3 Renew.
